Coach Mary Lou Johns began her coaching career in 1965 at Hillcrest High School when she coached volleyball, basketball and softball. Now at St. George’s, she coaches girls golf. Throughout the years and various sports, she’s picked up on successful ways of coaching. Her main philosophy relies on building a golfer’s confidenceand discipline while having fun. Coach Johns’ coaching philosophy is not only to teach and develop the fundamentals of the sport but also life skills. Sports teach discipline, commitment, dedication, organizational skills and self-confidence. I ask my golfers to believe in themselves, do their best and have fun. |
